During two days, AIMPLAS will analyse the novelties and challenges in the plastics recycling sector in an international meeting that consolidates in its second edition and that already has the support of twenty entities among sponsors, collaborators and media.
A total of 26 speakers will address in six blocks topics such as innovation in collection and selection, mechanical and chemical recycling technologies, the challenges of the sector and advanced techniques.
AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Institute, has organised the second edition of its International Plastics Recycling Seminar PLASREC on 15 and 16 November. At this meeting, specialists in the field will discuss the importance of recycling and the recovery of plastic waste in general in a circular economy model that makes it possible to use waste as new resources and as raw material of sustainable origin.
After a first edition with more than 200 attendees, the plastics industry’s interest in improving its sustainability continues to grow, driven among other things by new legal requirements. In this seminar, a total of 26 speakers will discuss the major issues affecting the sector. In the first part of the seminar, organisations such as the European Commission, Chemical Recycling Europe, ANARPLA and Plastics Europe will discuss their relevance in the circular economy model. Subsequently, companies in the sector will present the main developments and innovations in the field of collection and sorting related to the digitisation of the same. The first day will conclude with a full block dedicated to mechanical recycling and a workshop on the Sol-rec2 and Red Osiris projects. The latter is a strategic cooperation in technologies for the circular economy of composites and complex plastic materials with high added value. Four technology centres, GAIKER, AIMPLAS, AITEX and CIDAUT are collaborating to provide the sector with capacities to improve the profitability of its recovery processes and the reincorporation of the recycled materials obtained into the market.
The following day will be devoted to chemical recycling and a whole block will be dedicated to presenting innovations in these emerging technologies and presenting some success stories. In addition, there will be a workshop on the ReMade@ARI project. The next block will address the challenges faced by some specific types of waste and, finally, the day will conclude with a block dedicated to reviewing some advanced techniques for the improvement of recycling processes with the help of companies and experts.
PLASREC already has the support of a dozen sponsors such as Gravipes, Kubota Brabender, Raorsa, Leistritz, Break Machinery, Anarpla, Fontijne Presses, the ReMade@ARI project, FIMIC, Eversia, Carburos Metálicos and Promak. Also collaborating are entities such as ANAIP and Consorcio del Caucho and different specialised media.
